Prattle: Who do we have today?? OURSELVES! Just as we are, beautiful, curvy and sometimes saggy! Nature does take it's course after a while...

Scuttlebutt: You mean gravity? But how would I know... I'm still 25... and have a body like.... well... um... Kate Moss (not!)!

Prattle: *nods* yes, you will know what i'm talking about in about 10 years.... bwahaha! Kate Moss? Eww..she looks like she can be broken.. Really? The first person you could come up with is Kate Moss?

Scuttlebutt: I had to think fast!! Sheeesh!! Well ok... I'm not thin... I have my curves as well. But I love them (at least now that I sent some of them away... *grins*) and also I know a few men who really appreciate them as well! What is Kate Moss compared to me? Nothing! If she'd stand behind me, no one would be even able to see her! LOL

A while back, at the entrance of a gym, there was a picture of a very thin and beautiful woman. The caption was "This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?"

The story goes, a woman (of clothing size unknown) answered the following way:

"Dear people, whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, seals, curious humans), they are sexually active and raise their children with great tenderness.

I've carried a child within my body. Slept with them on my chest. I've kissed little toes & wiped away tears. I've been vomited on, peed on, and even pooped on I've spent many sleepless nights cradling my child but I wouldn't have it any other way. My body isn't magazine perfect, but when I look n the mirror I see a MOM and there is no greater honor, love, or blessing!!

Prattle: When I was pregnant, my husband told me that my body never looked more beautiful to him!

Prattle: We want to also say that we are not advocating being unhealthy, we are just saying that not all women come in one size... Marilyn Monroe was a size 16 at her most popular.

Scuttlebutt: You know... having a few more pounds, doesn't mean you are unhealthy. There are many conditions that come with being thin... or trying to stay thin...

Prattle: Not at all!! But some people (myself included) have a problem finding the middle ground.. Both are equaly as dangerous.

Scuttlebutt: Scuttlebutt: What we need to do is eat with a conscience! Exercise, live our life! Nobody is perfect! And that's what makes us all perfect!!!

FINALLY so Prattle has good news! Only took 9 months! Lol

Prattle: Hubby found a job!

Scuttlebutt: that is really great honey! Congratulations!! What kind of work did he get?

Prattle: in a warehouse he's going to be sweating all day! He works at a place where they make CD’s and he will be a “go between" for the printing and graphics department, I think they will end up teaching him how to run the printing machine eventually. But more importantly though... I'LL HAVE THE AFTERNOONS AND FRIDAY'S TO MYSELF AGAIN! LOL! hehehe! ;)

Scuttlebutt:This is really great Amber! I'm happy for you and for him too.

Prattle: Ok, new subject.... have you seen the Breaking Dawn trailer yet??

Scuttlebutt: I saw the bd trailer but I don’t know what I think about that and also it doesn’t make me swoon or "awww" or anything at all. What about you?

Prattle: I’m anxious to see the wedding; I love weddings being romatical and all.... and the honeymoon/baby making! lol

Gerry in Hawaii

Happy Monday friends!

So I, Prattle, was surfing the web yesterday and came across some pictures that were taken in Hawaii of Gerry. And of course I was there with him, but the pappz cropped me out of the pictures and did not include me in the article..Pfft.. *flips the bird at the photographers*

I'll take you through our day.

Yes, we finally roll out of bed around 11am.. ahhh, lazy mornings in bed with Gerry are what dreams are made of. I woke up with him spooning against me and his arm over my hip. He's a very warm sleeper, you don't need a heater on with Gerry in the room! His chest hair tickled my back something delicious.. *wiggles eyebrows and grins*

Scuttlebutt: Are you sure that was his chest hair?

Prattle: Yes, but he did bring a banana to bed...what's up with that?

Scuttlebutt: Um... I dont know. Maybe you should ask HIM about it... *snickers*

We have a breakfast of fresh local fruit, which of course he fed me from his own fingers. Such a romantic..

Scuttlebutt: I hope he at least washed his hands before feeding you...

Prattle: Of course he did, when we were in the shower together! Mmm...wet Gerry = wet Prattle.

Scuttlebutt: I dont think you really need the shower to get wet... do ya now? *smirks*

He decides to go paddle boarding but can't decide what to wear. I remind him that everyone looks good in black, so he picks the black board shorts. I'd rather he stay in his birthday suit, but that happy trail teaser is something isn't it?!? I run my fingers through his hair one more time before putting mine in braids.

Scuttlebutt: I dont think his birthday suit would be such a great idea... think of the chaos it would cause at the beach... *rolls eyes*

We take a break from paddling and talk about our evening plans. And lets just say it's a good thing I'm in the water, looking at those abs, and those thighs. And thinking of running my hands over his shoulders.... *shudders in a VERY good way*

Scuttlebutt: Uh huh...

Prattle: *wink*

I have to focus or fall off my board! We play in the water a while longer and then I can't help myself, I have to touch him again!! We spend the rest of the day in "aerobic activity" behind closed doors... hehehe... *winks*

Mortal Instruments

Hello friends!

It is Friday!!! Woooohooo!!!

And there is another reason for me - Scuttlebutt - to holler in ecstasy! I just read that one of my favorite book series --> Mortal Instruments, is to be adapted into a movieeeeeeeee!!!! *jumps in the air and clicks heels together*

When I read the series last year, I was hoping... no... I was praying they would do this and quick!! It seems that my hopes and prays have been answered. And I know that many of you out there also wanted this to happen so please join me in a holler!!!

I don't really agree with the article that says that this book is Twilight-like. I believe Cassandra Clare has written a completely different story with different characters. There might be some similarities as there would be in any Supernatural *sighs thinking of Dean Winchester* series but it has nothing to do with it. I'm not saying its better or worse (before you Twilight fans beat me to death...) its just different. LOL.

Oh... I liked this description of Jace too much to leave it out of this post...

"Jace Wayland is a buff blond boy with numerous rune marks on his skin, a kick-ass self-defence repetoire and a no-nonsense attitude with the ability to make girls everywhere fall at his booted feet."

The actress that will play the main character Clary, is Lily Collins well known from "The Blind Side" with Sandra Bullock and also from the movie "Abduction" where she will be seen alongside our own beautiful wolf-boy, Taylor Lautner :) I loved her in "The Blind Side" and I believe she's a promising actress!

Astronomer Parke Kunkle says that due to changes in the Earth's alignment the dates of many zodiac signs have changed, according to NBC. In addition, there may be a 13th Zodiac sign: Ophiuchus.

Kunkle says that as the Earth and Sun slowly move the signs gradually change, as expected.

The change didn't happen over night either. The 12 signs were designated to different periods of the year almost 3,000 years ago, when astrology began, and since then the Earth's position in relation to the sun has changed.

While the sign many people were born under may now be different, it shouldn't affect horoscope readings, according to NBC.

One states that Ophiuchus is identified with the healer Asclepius, son of Apollo, who became so skilled that he brought the dead back to life.[4] Then Hades became so angry that he convinced Zeus to kill Asclepius with a lightning bolt.[5] After his death, he was placed in the stars as a constellation.

Another version states that Asclepius witnessed a snake reviving a dead snake with herbs. Zeus then killed Asclepius with a thunderbolt to prevent the knowledge from spreading, but out of honor for his life works, turned him into the constellation Ophiuchus (The Snake Holder).[6]

We are baaaaaaaaaaackkk!!! Missed us? We hope you did cause we certainly missed youuuu!!!

OK, so... Scuttlebutt got a suggestion from our friend and affiliate Brenda to read a vamp series. Of course she did and thank goodness she shared with her Prattle, it's all we've been talking about!
In both of our time zones we've stayed up way past our bed time trying to get in more Brotherhood time and to make sure they fall in love as we've fallen for them....

Today we will talk about.... vampires! We know! It has become a favorite subject. But what do men think about it?

Vampires are everywhere -- in books like Twilight, in magazines and newspapers and now on television in the second season of True Blood on HBO. Vampires are stealing our women, but not by the usual force and trickery. Woman love the stupid bloodsuckers!

There is something about these Gothic symbols of manhood that make every woman weak in the neck. Is it their style, their power or just their flair for the romantic? It might be a combination of all of the above that makes these thousand-year-old walking corpses so damn appealing to the opposite sex.

Vampires are loners

The average guy runs with a pack; a group of close drinking buddies who come over to watch the game, hit the links on the weekends and get into trouble together. Women love vampires because they have all the time in the world. Literally.

Prattle: Why are you bringing the wolf pack into this? In traditional lore, we don't know that wolves can take down bad vamps...just Buffy.

Scuttlebutt: Well... because... because... Just because OK! Sheeesh... *growls and looks at you sideways*

What the single guy could learn: Don’t hang out with your friends so much. Make time for her and occasionally bag plans with the boys. The guys, the game, the golf, and the beers will always be there. Show her you are your own man.

Vampires require no commitment during the day

Even though women love to spend as much time as possible with the man they adore, they still want some alone time to do things with the girls or on their own. They feel bad if they don’t at least call and check in a few times during the day. Women love vampires because vampires can’t take up the entirety of a woman’s day. Hell, they can’t even stay that late into the night. Sleepovers only last until the sun is coming up and vampires are nowhere to be found until the sun goes down.

Scuttlebutt: Well, another reason we like this is that we are absolutely sure our man is in his coffin and not sneaking around with anybody else. *wink*

Prattle: What about in the middle of the night? He could be making another girl do his "bedding" while you are fast asleep!

Scuttlebutt: I don't thin I would be fast asleep with a vamp in my bed dear Prattle... I don't know about you though... *grins*

Prattle: What? Am I supposed to adjust my sleeping habits for him? I don't know about that...

Scuttlebutt: You are thinking about sleep while you have a vampire in your bed???

Prattle: Hey, I like my sleep...there is time where it's dark that I'm awake, but I don't know about the whole night thing... that's one of the great things about the sparkly ones....they CAN'T sleep..

What the single guy could learn: Sometimes a woman does just want to be alone. Give her time to do her own thing and be her own person. Give her space to be independent. It will make the time she spends with you even more special.

Vampires dress well

Ever seen a poorly dressed vampire? Never. Vampires are always impeccably dressed with perfect hair and a nice complexion (though a tad pale). Their fashionable (and usually dark) duds show off just the right amount of chest. A nice pair of skin-tight pants and an occasional ascot or medallion completes the look. Like a modern-day Tom Jones without the giant crucifix in his pants -- Goth but classy. They usually look better dressed than the living, not even taking into consideration the fact they can’t exactly run to Kenneth Cole at lunch to pick up a nice pair of dark chinos for tonight’s big date. They wear their clothes well and always with the perfect fit. Thankfully, most have dropped the cape.

Scuttlebutt: *cough* I don't think Chris has seen True Blood... what do you think Prattle? Or New Moon! *ducks*

Prattle: Hmmm *glaring at you* I don't know that I want to talk to you right now.... You're right, I don't think he's seen either True Blood or New Moon (or Eclipse) because they dress very well and look VERY hawt...

Scuttlebutt: Haven't you seen the vamps with the bellies and the uncombed hair in True Blood??? What about the ... costumes?? Come on... not all are so great! Or perfect in that matter! *remembers Edwards suit in New Moon and pulls a face*

Prattle: The MAIN characters.... and there is beauty in everything *sits in lotus position repeating ohm*

Scuttlebutt: Well, there aren't only the main characters in a movie or series! There are also those that surround them! And as pretty as you would be, if your surroundings look like shit... well.. it affects you too. *giggles*

Prattle: *rolls eyes* It's ENTERTAINMENT!!!! Geeesh...

Scuttlebutt: It definitely entertains me if one looks like a clown... *sniggers*

Prattle: *hides behind you* Did you say clown???

Scuttlebutt: OH MY GAWD!!! Run Prattle! Run!!! The gigantic clown with the sharp teeth is coming after you!!

What the single guy could learn: Dress well for every occasion. Always be slightly overdressed. Find a style that works. Go to a store and ask the clerk for assistance. Pick clothing that fits your body type. Pick colors that go with your skin tone. When in doubt, dress like the mannequin. But never wear the cape, no matter how good it looks.

Prattle: Don't forget the hair product!!!!!!!

Vampires love necking

Woman love sex. Honestly. But what they love even more is all the fooling around that should be involved before sex. As we all know, men just like to get down to business -- but not vampires. They don’t even really care about sex. They want to mess around. Particularly around the neck area -- the “sweet spot” as it’s known around the coffins. They know how to start off tender and soft and then get a little rough. Rough enough to draw blood. Kinky.

What the single guy could learn: Start off slow with foreplay. Find out all her most erotic spots. Don’t know her erotic spots? Here’s a crazy notion: Ask her! Spend extra time on those areas; especially the neck. The vamps have that part down to a sweet science. If you draw blood you are definitely doing something wrong. The sex will happen. She won’t forget it’s the big payoff, and neither will you.

Vampires are moody

Women beg to differ, but they honestly do like the occasional hint of drama in a relationship. It keeps things fresh and exciting. This is perfect for the vampire, whose mood is constantly changing. You’d be pissed too if people wanted you dead and all you’ve had to eat for a couple centuries is some blood and the occasional taste of plasma. It’s not the greatest life to lead. Good thing they’ve got all the female attention to keep things bearable.

Scuttlebutt: Bwaahahahahaaa!!

Prattle: I don't like my guy moody...that's my job! But spontaneity is a whole other beast!!!

What the single guy could learn: Don’t be a moody little baby, but occasionally keep her on her toes. As soon as a relationship becomes complacent and boring, the problems arise. Spontaneity is one of the reasons women love vampires, so be unpredictable yourself. Do things out of the ordinary like pop into her office for lunch, make her a surprise dinner or demand she skip work to spend the day together.

Vampires are persuasive

Vampires have a calming demeanor. They are suave, smooth and soft-spoken, and the women eat it up. They convince the smart and savvy women that their odd behavior is on the up-and-up. They even convince them it’s cool to suck blood. How hard is that? You can’t even convince her to try new sexual positions.

What the single guy could learn: Tell a woman what you want by being candid and straightforward, but not necessarily demanding. It will save a ton of time in arguing and fighting. Speak your mind. Don’t play games. Don’t let her have to figure you out.

Vampires search forever to find "her"

Woman love to think they were destined to be with one man for the rest of their lives. They love the romantic angle of a soul mate -- two people destined to meet, fall in love and be together forever. Now imagine that man is just as eager to find her and has been searching for untold centuries. It knocks a woman off her feet like a silver bullet through the heart. When a vampire sinks his teeth (figuratively) into a woman, he makes her feel like the only woman in the world. It’s no wonder women fall hard -- then again, it could also be the blood loss.

What the single guy could learn: Prove to her that she is the only woman in your life. Don’t check out other girls at a bar or ogle at the Top 99 Women on AskMen (at least not for as long as you usually do), and make her feel like the greatest thing that has ever happened to you.

Vampires are romantic

Give those dead, bloodsucking bastards credit: they know how to romance the pants off a woman. The setting is always dark and mysterious and the atmosphere is just right for doing something dirty. The full moon seems to follow them wherever they go. One of the reasons women love vampires is that they know how to pull all the tricks to make the setting perfect. Also working to their advantage is that they don’t do much talking to ruin the moment. They’ve also had years of practice.

Scuttlebutt: Yep. The years of practice certainly make a difference!

Prattle: Even just TRYING would be a good thing... *sigh*

What the single guy could learn: Set the mood and pick romantic spots for even the simplest activities. Remember places and little nuances for special occasions. Do the small things: special occasions, flowers for no reason, and tiny little "I love you" reminders to make her feel special. If you show her how much you care, you might end up involved in a different kind of sucking that doesn’t involve blood.

Vampires are powerful

Vampires exude two types of power. The first is the raw, physical power. The vampire is always in phenomenal shape; it must be the low carbs/high blood diet and tons of sleep. The second type of power is mental. He's usually a manipulative bastard who can match brains as much as brawn. This amazing one-two combo is a major reason women love vampires. Moreover, it’s almost impossible to kill a vampire. You think he’s dead? Nope. Still not dead.

What the single guy could learn: Every man knows he has to stay in top physical shape. More important, though, is being mentally powerful. Never stop learning; tackle a new language, do puzzles and games to keep your mind sharp and for ghoul’s sake read challenging and thought-provoking books instead of the sports page every morning. That’s another reason women love vampires; they can carry on a conversation about something other than baseball stats.

Vampires are the ultimate bad boys

Women love bad boys. Now mix in the fact that a vampire is searching for eternal love and needs a woman to survive; you’ve got yourself the ultimate bad boy. He answers to no one, lives by his own rules, wears nice clothes, and is hated by millions of living people. He is the man her mother warned her about except with more guy-liner and lip gloss than either of them could have ever predicted. He isn’t just bad, he’s dead. Beat that!

What the single guy could learn: It’s tough to pull off for some, but you could always give off the appearance of a bad boy. Try it like this: start sleeping all day, hang out late into the night, live by your own rules, piss off as many people as possible, and live off the blood of innocent women. Basically, pretend you’re back in college.

Favourite Movie: Invictus or Australia.
Favourite Book: The Chalet School Series

Scuttlebutt: I find this very interesting. Invictus or Australia, both movies with a deeper political and social meaning. I also didn't knew the Chalet School series and I googled it. It says that this series was written by Elinor M. Brent-Dyer and it was originally published in hardcover with dust jacket from 1925 through 1970. Many of the titles in the series have also been reprinted in softcover, but most of the softcover books are heavily edited. Thus, it is necessary to purchase the original hardcover books in order to guarantee that one acquires the original story.
The Chalet School Series is very popular with collectors in the United Kingdom, and many of the books are very hard to find and are very, very expensive. The series is practically unknown in the United States, as it has never been published here.
There are also more than 50 titles in this series! *whistles*

Prattle: Which instruments? Why the Navy? I have a very prissy Sister-in-Law that when she was 19 joined the Marines!! That didn't last longer than 4 weeks!

Prattle: Prissy is the worst kind of girly-girl! She doesn't like confrontation and they yelled at her a lot... she hurt her back on a run and got discharged!

Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds salmon fillets

lemon pepper to taste

garlic powder to taste

salt to taste

1/3 cup soy sauce

1/3 cup brown sugar

1/3 cup water

1/4 cup vegetable oil

Directions

Season salmon fillets with lemon pepper, garlic powder, and salt.

In a small bowl, stir together soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and vegetable oil until sugar is dissolved. Place fish in a large resealable plastic bag with the soy sauce mixture, seal, and turn to coat. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Preheat grill for medium heat.

Lightly oil grill grate. Place salmon on the preheated grill, and discard marinade. Cook salmon for 6 to 8 minutes per side, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.

Depression and stress have a tendency to intermingle, making it difficult to put your finger on the exact reason why you feel depressed or stressed. You may even feel that it’s

not one thing that’s getting you down. It’s everything, and you just can’t seem to kick a consistent feeling of gloom? You can probably categorize those feelings as depression.

For some people that feeling of gloom and depression is called SAD, Seasonal Affective Disorder. SAD is a depression disorder associated with light deprivation during the winter

months. Seasonal Affective Disorder is caused by a melatonin imbalance initiated by a lack of exposure to sunlight. SAD sufferers are not the only ones feeling stress, depression and the negative health affects caused by a lack of appropriate sunlight. We are all feeling its impact. Our lifestyles limit our exposure to sunlight. You naturally get vitamin D from sunlight, and a lack of exposure to sunlight is the main cause of vitamin D deficiency.

Vitamin D deficiencies can cause severe health issues. Osteoporosis is linked to a lack of vitamin D. Rickets is another bone-wasting disease that is linked to a vitamin D deficiency, and chronic vitamin D deficiency is often misdiagnosed as Fibromyalgia, because the symptoms are so similar; muscle weakness, depression, and unexplained aches and pains.

You can get vitamin D through food and supplements, but sunlight exposure is the only reliable way to generate vitamin D in your body. Studies show that healthy levels of vitamin D inhibit prostate cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, colon cancer, depression, and even schizophrenia.

People with dark skin tend to need 20 – 30 times as much exposure to sunlight as fair-skinned people to generate the same amount of vitamin D. In fact, doctors have now discovered that vitamin D deficiency is causing high rates of prostate cancer in Black males. People who are over weight have been found to need twice as much vitamin D, because obesity tends to impair how the body utilizes vitamin D. In general, studies show that your risk of developing serious

diseases like diabetes and cancer can be reduced by 50% - 80% with simple and sensible exposure to natural sunlight on an average of two to three times each week.

When your exposure to natural sunlight is limited, you can combat the depression related to SAD or the health issues associated with sunlight deficiencies with light therapy or photo therapy. Light therapy is exposure to light through special light therapy lamps or light boxes that are brighter than indoor light, but not as bright as direct sunlight. Light therapy has been found to be effective against depression, and it can reset your biological clock, or circadian rhythms, which controls when you sleep and when you wake up. Exposure to this special light has been found to be close enough to natural sunlight to allow the body to produce needed vitamin D.

Light therapy can offer effective mood altering and physical health benefits for generally anyone, and it has already been clinically proven to reduce stress.

Light therapy may be most effective when used first thing in the morning when

you wake up. You and your doctor can determine when light therapy works best

for you. You usually sit approximately 12" from the light anywhere from 10 to 30

minutes per session. It is neither recommended nor necessary to stare directly

into the light. A positive response to light therapy usually occurs within 2 to 4

days, but it may take up to three weeks before symptoms of SAD or depression

are relieved, and it can take months to correct a vitamin D deficiency.

We can all benefit from the use of light therapy. More often than not, most

people usually do not get the kind of exposure to the sun that could be

beneficial. You tend to be stuck inside buildings all day long. You may go to

work before sunrise, and get out of work as the sun is going down, or has

already set. If that sounds like your lifestyle, you may be a good candidate for

light therapy.

Light therapy is a viable alternative to consider when stress or depression has

taken over, and you need more than aromatherapy, candles, or relaxation to get

results.

Apricots with Mascarpone Cream

Original Recipe Yield 16 stuffed apricot halves

Ingredients

1 cup whipping cream

3 tablespoons white sugar

4 ounces mascarpone cheese

2 tablespoons apricot nectar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 pinch ground cardamom (optional)

3 tablespoons apricot preserves

1/4 cup honey

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

8 fresh apricots, pitted and halved

Directions

Beat the cream in a chilled bowl with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Beat in the sugar and set aside. In another bowl, whip the mascarpone cheese with an electric mixer until very soft; beat in the apricot nectar, vanilla extract, and cardamom. Gently fold the mascarpone mixture into the whipped cream.

Place the apricot preserves and honey into a microwave-safe bowl and heat in microwave oven until warm but not hot, about 30 seconds. Mix well and stir the balsamic vinegar into the honey mixture.

Stuff each apricot half with a dollop of the mascarpone cream and place the filled apricot halves on a serving dish. Drizzle the fruit and plate with balsamic sauce and serve.

Apricot & White Cherry Sangria

Ingredients

8 fresh apricots, cut in quarters

1 cup white cherries, pitted and halved

1 white Asian pear, cored and diced

1 lemon halved and thinly sliced in half moons

Juice of 1 orange or 2 tangerines

1/2 cup apricot brandy

1/2 cup Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur (at BevMo)

1/2 cup Landy Cognac

1/3 cup sugar

1 teaspoon orange bitters

1 bottle brut sparkling wine, well chilled

handful fresh mint, torn

Directions

Add the apricots, cherries, Asian pear, lemon slices and orange or tangerine juice to a large pitcher. Top with the apricot brandy, Maraschino and Cognac. Add the sugar and stir to dissolve. You could let the sangria sit for a while in the refrigerator at this point so the fruit has some time to soak and release its flavors. Or if you’re in a hurry, next add the orange bitters and sparkling wine to the pitcher. Add a cup of crushed ice, since this is a pretty potent sangria or you could add another bottle of sparkling wine if you want it to serve more people. Top with the freshly torn mint and serve by ladling some fruit into each glass and then pouring sangria on top.

There is a natural body function that helps relieve stress,

but unfortunately it is something you probably have been

discouraged from doing. Just like perspiration, the natural

function to keep the body from overheating. The natural

body function to relieve stress, anxiety and other emotional

build-ups is crying. You should allow yourself to cry.

From very young ages most of us are told not to cry. “Don’t

you cry! You stop that crying right now.” If you cry you’re

considered weak. In some cultures it’s considered

undignified, but crying is a natural stress reliever.

Sometimes you have no choice. Your body overrides any

effort to suppress the urge to cry. When you hold back

your tears, you only amplify the emotions or stress your

body is trying to release through crying.

A study by the University of Minnesota discovered that the chemicals that build

up in your body during emotional stress can be removed in your tears, and

unreleased stress can increase your risk for heart attack and damage certain

areas of your brain. So your human ability to cry is not only therapeutic, but

could even be considered a survival tactic.

Yes, there are times when it’s acceptable to cry. You can cry tears of joy, right?

You can cry at weddings, graduations or births. You can even cry when you

laugh. So why should you stuff down the tears when you really need to let them

out; when you are emotionally stressed, sad, in physical pain or depressed?

Natural stress relief is really the best of all options.

Types of Tears

There are three types of tears produced by the lachrymal gland in the eye.

Continuous or basal tears:

Keep the eye surface permanently moist and protected and contain water, lipids

or fats, proteins, and compounds that protect against infection.

Reflex tears:

Contain a similar make-up, and are produced as a reaction to irritants or foreign

objects.

Emotional tears:

Have a different make-up, and include enkephalin, an endorphin and natural

painkiller.

"Emotional tears contain higher concentrations of proteins, manganese,

and the hormone prolactin which is produced during stress-induced

danger or arousal,'' Dr. Carrie Lane of the University of Texas.

Women have more leeway than men to cry. It’s not quite fair, but it’s true.

Women can usually release tears much more easily than men because it’s

accepted. Men rarely consider it acceptable for themselves or other men to

cry. Most men don't even consider crying an option, but they should put down

that armor and allow themselves to cry.

Crying is a great form of stress relief when you really let it out. Let the tears well-

up in your eyes, or roll down your cheeks, or just break into a full-out sob. Pick

a place where you won’t be disturbed, and have a good cry. Of course you may

experience the side effects of crying; puffy eyes, runny nose. Just remember to

use a cold compress to control the swelling around your eyes. A cold face-cloth

pressed against your eyes is good enough. If you don't use a cold compress,

your eyes could remain swollen for hours.

After a thorough cry you will feel better. A study by the University of South

Florida found that almost everyone feels better after a cry, and that personality

has a major effect on how often we cry. An overwhelming majority of

participants reported mood improvement after crying.

Sometimes crying helps to clear the mind, and may even help you think things

through a little more clearly than you would if you hold those stressful emotions

inside. We all know that emotional decisions tend to be riddled with difficulty.

When I was a kid, my Mother use to say, “Cry, cry harder. Come on, you can do

better than that.” Of course her egging would only make me and my siblings

more upset, and we would cry harder. But when we stopped crying, we would

feel relieved of the emotions that made us cry in the first place and we moved on.

Crying may not be the answer to everyone’s stress, but the latest research

suggests it's highly effective at encouraging the body to heal, and it improves

the mood of 88.8% of those who weep. Only 8.4% of the subjects reported

feeling worse after crying. Researchers suggest that crying is so beneficial that

there may be a case for inducing crying in those who find it difficult to let go.

Salsa Chicken Burrito Filling

"Quick, easy burrito/taco filling that is delicious and freezes great! I serve this with tortillas, shredded Cheddar cheese and little sour cream. You could fill the tortillas and put them all in a baking dish and then cover with salsa and cheese and bake for about 10 minutes, if you don't want a mess at the table."

Original Recipe Yield 4 servings

Ingredients

2 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves

1 (4 ounce) can tomato sauce

1/4 cup salsa

1 (1.25 ounce) package taco seasoning mix

1 teaspoon ground cumin

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon chili powder

hot sauce to taste

Directions

Place chicken breasts and tomato sauce in a medium saucepan over medium high heat. Bring to a boil, then add the salsa, seasoning, cumin, garlic and chili powder. Let simmer for 15 minutes.

With a fork, start pulling the chicken meat apart into thin strings. Keep cooking pulled chicken meat and sauce, covered, for another 5 to 10 minutes. Add hot sauce to taste and stir together (Note: You may need to add a bit of water if the mixture is cooked too high and gets too thick.)

Relaxing Exercises

Learning how to relax can greatly improve your health and

well-being. That's why it is so important to find ways to

introduce more relaxation into your everyday life. If you

don't learn to manage stress, stress will manage you; and

left unchecked, stress can be draining, cause anxiety, and

even trigger health issues.

Relaxation exercises are a great way to relieve stress.

The exercises below can work wonders on the stress knots

in your shoulders and neck regions - on the stress that

accumulates in your muscles - and even against certain

stress headaches. These relaxation exercises are also

great, because they are not strenuous. Each position is

very easy to perform, can induce relaxation when you are

tense, and can also provide instant stress relief.

Relaxation Exercise #1 - Legs across chair

Begin by getting a chair. Now lie on your back on the floor, and place your

legs across the seat in a sideways position. Make sure the chair is right up

against the bend in your knees. This relaxation exercise provides stress relief

to your lower back. It also allows your whole body to let go of tension and begin

to relax. Slow down your breathing too. Breathe slowly in and out through

your nose. If you really want to go deep with this relaxation exercise, try

covering your eyes with a moist warm towel. Stay in this position for several

minutes. Try ten to fifteen minutes to enjoy the full benefits.

Relaxation Exercise #2 - Bottom against wall

Next, put the chair aside and move your buttocks up to the base of a wall and

extend your legs straight up the wall. Make sure your bottom is as close to the

base of the wall as possible, and that the small of your back is flat against the

floor. You can place your arms straight out on either side, or just keep them

by your sides. Again, keep your breathing slow, or do some breathing

exercises. This position really gets your blood flowing and helps the body

release stress.

Relaxation Exercise #3 - Knees into the chest

Now bend your knees and bring them close to your chest. Hold your legs to

your chest with your hands if you can. That really helps stretch the lower

back. If holding your knees close to your chest is not relaxing to you, just keep

your knees in a bent position as close to your chest as possible. Close your

eyes, breathe in through your nose and breathe out through your mouth. Slow

breathing is important here to help keep your body from tensing up.

Relaxation Exercise #4 - Blanket against back

Now here's the last of the relaxation exercises, and it’s the best. Slowly move

away from the wall. Don't jump up quickly. Instead, roll over on your side, and

use your hands to push yourself up into a sitting position. Now take a blanket,

towel or cloth and roll it into the shape of a log. Place it on the floor and lie

back on the cloth so that it's horizontally straight across your shoulder blades.

This is a great shoulder relaxation exercise. It stretches out your shoulders

blades and opens up your chest. This feels great after hunching over a

computer all day, and really helps to release the stress knots in your

shoulders, and other tensions that can form in your neck and back regions.

There you have it. Simple, easy, and effective relaxation exercises to help

relief stress. Remember, when you're done, don't get up quickly. Roll over on

your side, and use your hands and arms to push yourself up into a sitting

position, and then continue to get up slowly. Do any or all of the relaxation

exercises separately, or in the order demonstrated.

The key to finding true relaxation is balance. If you are use to a hectic lifestyle

you may feel that relaxing might make you lose your edge. You may also be

addicted to the affects of adrenaline, and find it problematic to relax. But

remember your body can't remain on high alert all the time. It will eventually

lead to burn out, and encourage physical ailments.

Portobello Mushroom Burgers

"The steak of veggie burgers. Serve on a bun with lettuce, tomato, and aioli sauce. Oh yeah!"

Prep Time: 15 Min

Cook Time: 20 Min

Ready In: 35 Min

Original Recipe Yield 4 servings

Ingredients

4 portobello mushroom caps

1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 tablespoon minced garlic

salt and pepper to taste

4 (1 ounce) slices provolone cheese

Directions

Place the mushroom caps, smooth side up, in a shallow dish. In a small bowl, whisk together vinegar, oil, basil, oregano, garlic, salt, and pepper. Pour over the mushrooms. Let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes or so, turning twice.

Preheat grill for medium-high heat.

Brush grate with oil. Place mushrooms on the grill, reserving marinade for basting. Grill for 5 to 8 minutes on each side, or until tender. Brush with marinade frequently. Top with cheese during the last 2 minutes of grilling.

Why be a "CrochetRockstar" and what does it mean? Well, for one thing I'm REALLY good at it.. I don't toot my own horn very often, but this is one gift I KNOW I have been given! And now that my grandmothers have passed, it's a way for me to remember them.

Finding any hobby is a stress reliever, anything that can get your mind on what is in front of you for a while and de-compress is healthy. I am sometimes a #crochetaddict or a #cookingaddict or a #craftingaddict, but it's things I enjoy and helps me deal with stress. I hope all our readers have something they enjoy to "get away from it all" for a while every couple of days!

Knitting and Crochet Tote Releases Stress

A knitting and crochet tote is something a lot of people simply walk past in tourist shops or push to the back of their closet most of the year. This is not the case in my family. Knitting and crochet has always been a big part of my grandma's life, and I never really knew why until last week.

For every possible holiday my grandma would throw in a knitting and crochet tote along with another little gift. I think she knew I didn't use them, even though I hung each one on the back of my door like I would need to use it any day. She just said she made so many that she didn't need them anymore. I think she always hoped that I would start getting interested in knitting and crochet just like she did when she was my age.

I volunteered to drive my grandma to her knitting and crochet club last Tuesday, not knowing it was over half an hour away. She walked up to the car with her usual knitting and crochet tote and her supplies in tow. We had a lot of time to pass, so naturally we started talking about her knitting club meeting that day. She told me how she started knitting and crocheting in the first place and why she continued to keep the habit for 62 years and counting. She said that with all the stress in her life with working and raising three kids, she needed something to keep her calm. She needed something constant that could keep her mind off of everything else in her life that was bothering her.

I didn't believe her at first that each knitting and crochet tote I saw her carrying acted as a stress reliever. After some research online later, I found out that she was right! Activities like knitting and crochet have a calming effect that can help manage anxiety and, as a result, even help medical conditions such as asthma or panic attacks. As a result of the stress relieving properties, knitting and crochet can also strengthen the body's immune system.

So yesterday when I was driving my grandma back to her last club meeting, I looked at her knitting and crochet tote with a feeling of admiration and interest. I decided to do something I generally vowed never to do: I went into the meeting. I did go very well prepared, though. I looked up a Complete Beginners Guide to Knitting and Free Easy Crochet Patterns and Beginners Help. I was pretty much baffled on my own and I was getting stressed just trying to figure out what all of these new terms meant.

At this last meeting I began something of my own. I made a crochet tote bag that was so easy, and I finally had a knitting and crochet tote bag of my own for all my supplies. I finally made a bag that I'm going to actually use! After the meeting I decided that I'm going to look into some other stress relieving techniques, like a Ripple Afghan Crochet Pattern for my new apartment. Who knew staying calm and healthy could be so easy?

Today I will present to you one of the loves of my life :) (other than Dean Winchester)

Giorgos Alkaios

Yes, he is Greek. A very successful Greek singer actually who is going to represent Greece at this years Eurovision song contest.

Before we start... take a look at this years song. I present to you... Giorgos Alkaios & Friends. And what hansom friends that are too... *grins*

Umm... err... *giggles and clicks on play again*....

Ever since he was a little boy he had a restless character. Not only he was interested in music but in sports as well. His primary contact with music and theater came at the 'Happy Village', a summer camp in Varimpompi (area near Athens), were he participated for 4 years at all music and theater activities both as a camper and leader of the campers. That place learned him the meaning of team spirit, organizing and working.

He gave up on school at the age of 16 to study electronics in a private school, from where he graduated and got a degree.

His first appearance on a TV show was back at 1989, when he was presented at the TV show called 'Come To The Light', aired at the 2nd national TV network. This show was practically the first Greek reality show, as out of 1.500 young actors, singers and dancers and after convincing a professional committee, only 20 made to the finals. George was one of them. He earned and won the opportunity to study dancing, acting and music with very accomplished teachers while other great artists from his field of interests taught him out of their own experiences.

During summer of the same year, he successfully entered an audition for the classic Greek drama of Sofoklis, 'Antigone', starring Aliki Vougiouklaki (the ever unforgettable Greek actor). Composer was another Greek giant, Mikis Theodorakis. Rehearsals lasted over 2 months and the opening took place at the ancient theater of Epidavros. This ancient drama participation, at the age of 17, was and still is one of the greatest experiences of his life. He was the youngest participator for the time, not only in a historic play but in a historic place as well.

Scuttlebutt: Prattle... if you don't know Mikis Theodorakis or the ancient theater of Epidavros, I'd recommend you google them... September is near...

During the same summer he decides to change his course from theater to music. Not hesitating to enter another audition that held in a night stage named 'TUNNEL', he got the job again, as a singer this time. In summer of 1991 he participates in concerts all over Greece. After that, George and the composer Avet Kizirian enter contest at Thessaloniki's Music Festival with the song 'You Don't Want Me Dare'. This year 2 young music stars begin to shine... George Alkaios and Sakis Rouvas. (Scuttlebutt: We will drool ... errr... I mean talk about this one another time *grins*) George wins the first singing prize and starts his career... on his return in Athens he signs with B.M.G. records.

George will not rest in his singing success, so he took live action in both music and lyrics composition. Before the release of his first personal music album George writes songs for other artists. Songs for commercials, even for a world wide refreshment. But above all, songs that lasted in time and continue their success till now.

His songs make a difference in Greek music since it was the first time that eastern sounds were combined with western pop, a fact that altered the music standards for the time. 6 personal records were to come, all with huge success. 5 golden and 3 platinum records. A black scarf on his right hand becomes his trade mark for the next 5 years. He is the only Greek artist that entered a personal fetish to the fashion world. (Scuttlebutt: Yes! I remember! That time everybody was wearing a black scarf around their hand. *giggles*) His songs have a special and unique sound as a result of his active participation even in producing with the valuable advice and experience of the producers.

His outstanding success in combination with his low profile character, were the reasons he had so many proposals from record companies after his contract with B.M.G. expired. After 3 months of negotiating he signed with Sony Music. The first record with the new company, titled 'silent sounds', shocked the whole country. His extreme photos along with his new look made the record gold in less than 24 hours. 4 new records were to come. All of them golden and 2 platinum.

In year 2003 after the expiration of his latest contract with Sony Music, which was right after his contract with B.M.G., George decided to sign with a Greek music company rather than an international one. Alpha Records offered him the opportunity of music creation which made him to accept the collaboration. Not only his new contract but his new album as well, persisting of 12 new songs in a DVD package, made some real noise. The same record company, a year after, released a special edition of this album with a 2 hour DVD dedicated to his artistic presence(songs, video clips and amateur videos of his concerts).

George's reputation out of Greece; he is very popular in Greek communities all over the world. He is one of the few Greek artists who hold the record: for the last ten years he is performing without interruption in Cyprus, Germany, Great Britain, Canada, Australia and the U.S.A.

Scuttlebutt: Coming soon to a theater close to you *grins* You should go see him Prattle!! He's very entertaining :)

He has performed in great theaters and concert halls. House of Blues, Manhattan Center, Metro, Taj Mahal, Crown, Fox Studios, Vic Theater are some of the places in which he appeared. Recently he performed twice in Tirana's Concert Hall in Albania; he was also invited for concerts in Bulgaria and Romania.

George Alkaios has also entered the international charts with Greek songs. (Scuttlebutt: This is really a big deal for Greek artists. We are a small country and this doesn't happen very often) In year 2000 his song 'Simadi' was accepted in the music collection of France's Buddha Bar. He is the first Greek artist to be accepted in this album. A year after that, 'Sirmatoplegma' becomes the winnig song for the Turkish team Galata Sarai, when it won the European Super Cup and the UEFA Cup.

His first platin LP abroad came from Sweden, when Antique performed his song 'Opa-opa'; and became famous all over Europe. One of the most important Greek singers, Despina Vandi, is performing the same song in Greece and abroad. His song 'S' agapao' (which means "I love you" for those who don't know...) has already been translated into English and is expected that it will be performed by a foreign artist. The same song is a hit in Eastern Europe by a famous Romanian artist although George has never given his permission for this production. His song 'Ki olo mou leipeis' will be used as musical trailer by the greatest broadcasting company of Bulgaria.

TGIF!!!!!!!!

Here is our recipe suggestion for the weekend.

Lamb fillet with tagliatelle

And with fragrant sauce from honey and thyme!

MMMMMMMMMMM!!!!

Ingredients

Serves 2 people

400 g lamb fillet
40 g red wine
40 g olive oil
30 g honey
salt and pepper
thyme
1 tea-cup of flour
150 g boiled tagliatelle
100 g carrots
80 g red pepper

Procedure

Cut the lamb fillet in small pieces. Flour and sautee them in hot olive oil. Once they take color, pour them with wine. Wait till it evaporates and add honey, thyme, salt and pepper. In a second frying pan sautee peppers and carots, and once they're soft, add the tagliatelle. Serve and, if you wish, garnish with a shoot of fresh thyme.

Eat great and stay fit

Who says you have to deprive yourself of all deliciousness to stay fit? You can enjoy foods you love without adding pounds. Here’s how to pull it off, from nutritionist Marissa Lippert, RD, author of The Cheater's Diet.

Eat treats

"Allow for two mouth-watering, indulgent sweets each week," Lippert says. “And focus on quality—a scoop of really great real ice cream, a rich cookie or coffee drink.” Budget about 200 to 300 calories for each.

Dine out

Give yourself two nice “splurge” meals a week. “This is your time to have the non-diet foods you thought were completely off limits—such as slices at your favorite pizzeria, or a filet with mashed potatoes,” she says. The only caveat: Use portion control. Limit yourself to two small slices of pizza with a side salad, order small cuts of meat, and eat just half of creamy, cheesy sides.

Give yourself cocktail tickets

You can still enjoy wine, beer, or a Cosmopolitan—but you’ll need to cut back if you’re trying to lose a pound or two a week. Figure out your weekly average, and cut that by one-fourth; that’s your maximum number of drinks each week.

Savor some chocolate

You can enjoy some every single day: Have two or three tasting squares—about 75 calories worth of chocolate. And buy the really good stuff (explore some brands to try at www.chocosphere.com). “Choose great-tasting chocolate, and you’ll be able to eat smaller amounts and be satisfied,” Lippert says.

Go ahead—add on to your salad

With all the extra toppings, restaurant salads can easily add up to 700, 800, even 900 calories. But who wants a bowl of naked lettuce? Instead, load a plate (not a bowl) with dark greens, some protein to fill you, and whatever fresh fruit and veggies you like. Cheat by adding two or three one-tablespoon servings of the fattening stuff (dried fruit, nuts, seeds, cheese, bacon crumbles, croutons, fried tortilla strips, or avocado). Dress your salad with one tablespoon of a real vinaigrette or oil and vinegar—fat helps satisfy you and unlocks some nutrients in your salad. Now, dig in.

Reach for the breadbasket

If bread is your weakness, eat the best: If the basket on the table is filled with stale, cold slices or squishy sandwich-style stuff, you’ve got a good reason to ask the waiter to take it away: That bread won’t make you happy. But when you’re offered a hearty, artisan loaf with a dense texture and crisp crust, treat yourself to a small slice, says Lippert. Gild it with a teaspoon of olive oil or butter and enjoy every wonderful bite.

Party with a plan

No need to camp out by the crudités during a party. Scan the buffet, making note of your favorite hors d’oeuvres. Go back, and choose only two or three higher-calorie appetizers. (Want chips and dip? Count out seven chips, and dip—don’t scoop—into the guacamole.) Fill up on veggies and fresh fruit, and save room for one sweet treat at the end. You deserve it!

4. Change his e-mail's auto response to "I'm unavailable today due to a raging case of genital warts."

5. "Forget" where you parked his vintage convertible.

6. Take a photo of yourself naked, then blur out all the good parts and leave it on his pillow with a message that says, "Too bad you'll never see these again."

I don’t have a favorite movie, there are so many that I love and my all time favorite book is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. Outlander started my obsession for Gerard Butler. I can’t imagine any one playing the handsome Scottish Highlander Jamie Fraser but Gerry.

Prattle: *makes note to find that book* I'm with you on the movie thing.. I like a lot of different movies too.

Scuttlebutt: I don't even remember which movie I said was my fave... yes, my brain is as small as a goldfishes.

Prattle: You just have "Dean on the brain". If it doesn't have to do with Dean, it's in one ear and out the other! *giggles and hugs you*

Scuttlebutt: Well, I think he's the only worthy thing on my brain! LOL! And the most beautiful too!

6. What countries have you visited?

I live in the US and I have just visited Canada.

Prattle: Where in Canada did you go? Why did you visit there?

Scuttlebutt: You do stand up to the post title Prattle, you know that, right?

Prattle: Yep *nods head* I sure do!

7. Do you have any tattoos and/or piercings?

No tattoos, and I have three piercings in one ear and four in the other.

Prattle: Well that seems pretty normal!

8. What super-power would you most like to have, and why?

I have no idea. I can’t even come up with one.

Prattle: I think she would want to teleport, that is my answer for her! So she can immediately go to wherever Gerard is!

Scuttlebutt: Or maybe she would like to be invisible! So she could sneak in his room?

Prattle: But there would have to be touching involved...would he be able to feel her if she's invisible?

Scuttlebutt: Of course he would! Haven't you EVER seen "Hollow man"? Or "Fantastic Four"? Do you only watch movies with Gerry? *giggles* You can slap someone across the face and he wont know what hit him! I think Invisibility would be my next favorite super power! After teleportation!

9. Name one thing that not many people know about you.

I’m writing a romance novel.

Prattle: I would LOVE to read chapters for you! Does your male character resemble Gerard??? *grins*

Scuttlebutt: I'd bet my right foot!

I have to feed my dog and cat. They are demanding critters.

Scuttlebutt: You know, my bf doesn't like purple at all! Our church has purple colors for funerals and he really hates it. Especially in a specific shade! So what does that tell us about "the secret lover of Gerry" dear Prattle?

Ewww, I was blowing my husband in a local Mexican restaurant in broad day light (when we were dating). I told him to keep a look out but in the euphoria of the moment he closes his eyes, (go figure) and I hear a car door slam next to us and it was a group of senior citizens! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I, Prattle, am an emotional eater. I eat when I'm happy, I eat when I'm upset. Here are ten natural appetite suppressants to keep you satisfied and able to control your caloric intake! What do you do to not over eat? Let us know!

No.10 - Apples

You’ve heard the saying: ”An apple a day (no, not an Apple jingle girl) keeps the doctor away,” and now apples may do more than just that. One large apple supplies approximately 5 grams of fiber, which fills the stomach up for a longer period of time. Additionally, the sugars found in apples do not influence blood sugar levels as much as starchy carbohydrates do, meaning you’ll have a reduced risk of a blood-sugar spike followed by a crash.

No.9 - Flaxseeds

Flaxseeds are becoming a more popular way of getting in your essential fatty acids, but they also offer a good dose of soluble fiber to your diet.
