Golden Globes
Hello dear friends!
Mrs. Prattle and Ms. Scuttlebutt present to you, the Golden Globe Awards!
Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement
Martin Scorsese
Prattle: Love Marty!! And I agreed with Robert DeNiro when he said that DeMille would be honored to receive a Scorsese award... *sniff sniff* I don’t think this man can direct a bad movie... He has been touched by the Cinema Gods.
Best Motion Picture - Drama
Avatar
Prattle: Well I guess I’m the only person left who hasn’t seen this movie… I want to, I love Sigourney Weaver.
Scuttlebutt: What? You haven't seen it yet? Ok, I honestly believe that this movie is so worth it! It was FASCINATING!!! And I only watched it as a “normal” movie – meaning no 3D – but I will see it again as 3D on Wednesday!!! Yes!!
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama
Sandra Bullock – The Blind Side
Prattle: Another one I haven’t seen, but LOVE HER!! She’s another one that has been touched by the Cinema and Beauty Gods... And that dress...a vision in violet, she floated to the stage.
Scuttlebutt: Oh yes! *claps hands* I love Sandra! She is funny, sweet, talented! Adorable!
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama
Jeff Bridges – Crazy Heart
Prattle: He is awesome, I heard he did his own singing in this... don’t care for him bearded, but he looked dashing in his suit! All the Bridges Boys clean up nicely!
Scuttlebutt: I think that Jeff Bridges is one of the most handsome men in Hollywood. Men, I said. And he definitely cleans up quite well for his age too.
Best Motion Picture - Comedy Or Musical
The Hangover
Prattle: This has to be one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen in my life!! I thought it was going to be sophomorically stupid, but it was great! I strongly suggest seeing this movie for a great laugh! “is that a baby? Whose is it?” .. “I don’t know, check its collar or something.”
Scuttlebutt: Hahaha!!! Oh my God! I remember that scene! And the one in the bathroom... where he sees the tiger while he pees??? So funny!! So worth it!
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy Or Musical
Meryl Streep – Julie & Julia
Prattle: This is a great movie..this was a wonderful movie..I love this movie! Cooking...Butter...Meryl Streep and Amy Adams! The costumes were as awesome as the acting... Meryl is another one that in my opinion cannot put out a bad movie, she is awesome.
Scuttlebutt: There are no words to describe Meryl Streep. She is one of the most talented actresses alive. I adore her!
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy Or Musical
Robert Downey Jr. – Sherlock Holmes
Prattle: Ooooh... I love him...I love how he’s been able to turn his life around, and his acting has gotten better for it. Will be seeing this movie very soon, and I can’t wait for the new Iron Man!!! He always looks good dressed up, and sometimes when he’s all dirty too! *giggles*
Scuttlebutt: *giggles* Yes! I completely agree with you! You could bathe that one too on a Spa Sunday! *grins* I love dirty, bloody men...
Best Performance by an Actress In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Mo’nique – Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire
Prattle: This is sooo on my watch list of movies. I will need a couple of boxes of tissues I’m sure! And her speech....I about started to sob... I loved the front of her dress but didn’t care for the pleats in the back..
Scuttlebutt: Unfortunately here in Greece, the movie distribution is too slow in some cases. Many of the movies haven't gotten here yet and some of them wont ever do. I haven't even heard of that one. But if you say it's good and she won a Globe, I guess it's worth it.
Best Performance by an Actor In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Christoph Waltz – Inglorious Basterds
Prattle: He was AWESOME! This is another one of my current favourite movies, and he was scary and funny all at the same time!
Best Animated Feature Film
Up
Prattle: This looks good! The kids and the Mr have seen it but I haven’t yet.. I do like the dog with the talking collar! That is a hoot! Loved the introduction for this movie by Sir Paul.. “Animation isn’t just for children, it’s also for adults on drugs!” *doubles over laughing* --I do not suggest anyone do this, I am not advocating it I just thought it was funny!
Scuttlebutt: I watch animated movies all the time! I love them!
Best Foreign Language Film
The White Ribbon (Das Weisse Band – Eine Deutsche Kindergeschichte) (Germany)
Prattle: This looks good, I wonder if it has subtitles... Or Ms. Scuttlebutt can translate it for me! LOL!
Scuttlebutt: Ja, Ja! Kein problem! *giggles*
Best Director - Motion Picture
James Cameron – Avatar
Prattle: Can’t go wrong here.. He’s another that was touched by the Cinema Gods... He does need a hair cut though I thought..
Scuttlebutt: James Cameron is a Revolutionist! He is always taking the first step and all others follow! Terminator, The Abyss, Titanic... and now Avatar! Just revolutionary... Bravo! I love him!
Best Screenplay - Motion Picture
Jason Reitman – Sheldon Turner – Up in the Air
Prattle: Will see this one soon too!! LOVE GEORGE!!! So handsome... *sigh* and just seems like an all around good guy..
Best Original Score - Motion Picture
Michael Giacchino – Up
Prattle: I think an animated film has a leg up on scores. I think it would be easier to create the music for animation than for a live actor movie. I don’t know why I think this.. Maybe it goes back to my cartoon watching Saturday morning days, with Bugs Bunny and music from “The Barber of Seville” in the background.
Best Original Song - Motion Picture
“The Weary Kind (Theme from Crazy Heart)” – Crazy Heart
Best Television Series - Drama
Mad Men
Prattle: I was surprised they won! I’ve heard the show is good (I love period shows/movies) but I thought last season’s True Blood was excellent. And I LOVE House, for many reasons!
Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series - Drama
Julianna Margulies – The Good Wife (CBS)
Prattle: I have loved her since ER, I’m so glad she won!! I loved George Clooney congratulating her while she was walking up to the stage! So sweet...
Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series - Drama
Michael C. Hall – Dexter (SHOWTIME)
Prattle: I LOVE this show!! It’s creepy, eerie and gross.. Very well written and acted. It makes you wonder if he’ll snap. Dexter is the serial killer next door, the one you’d never suspect...like you’d expect any of them, right?
Best Television Series - Comedy Or Musical
Glee (FOX)
Prattle: This is an awesome show too!! I was in drama club and choir in high school, so I can identify with this.. and I think that we should have a soundtrack playing in the background during everything we do, and should break out in song and dance whenever! *twirls and shows you my best jazz hands* Shhhaa!
Scuttlebutt: Ok Ms.Prattle... come on now. Come sit here with me. Easy girl... *giggles*
Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series - Comedy Or Musical
Toni Collette – United States of Tara (SHOWTIME)
Prattle: She is another actress that I love, I have loved her since “Muriel’s Wedding” (1994) she is great and has really developed into a beautiful graceful actress! I love that she’s taken smaller bits and really worked on acting and not just making blockbusters.
Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series - Comedy Or Musical
Alec Baldwin – 30 Rock (NBC)
Prattle: I don’t really care for this man as a person...but as an actor he is hilarious! He does dry humour very well, and I love dry humour. He was great in “It’s Complicated”, loved it!
Best Mini-Series Or Motion Picture Made for Television
Grey Gardens (HBO)
Prattle: I had never heard of this...but really want to check it out! I love Drew Barrymore, she is another one that has done great things after getting herself together and living beyond her name...and for herself!
Best Performance by an Actress In A Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television
Drew Barrymore – Grey Gardens (HBO)
Prattle: See above! I loved her dress, but was curious about the spiky thing on her hip and shoulder...kinda scary!
Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television
Kevin Bacon – Taking Chance (HBO)
Prattle: You can’t go wrong putting Kevin Bacon in anything.. He’s helping to bring the skinny jeans back, did you see that? And he can pull it off!
Scuttlebutt: I am not really a Kevin Bacon fan... I don't know. Maybe after his role in “Hollow Man” I think he is scary... brrr...
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television
Chloë Sevigny – Big Love (HBO)
Prattle: I LOVE this show too! She is awesome in it, very baaaaddd Mormon! She hit the nail on the head when she said she didn’t know why they would cast her in this role, its so un-Chloe! But it works, it’s like a train wreck…you have to watch it, it’s unbelievable. I did not care for her dress though…it was also a train wreck. Too many frilly things close to her face, on her shoulders would have looked fine, or some in the back, but not at the collar...
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television
John Lithgow – Dexter (SHOWTIME)
Prattle: I haven’t seen him in this show yet, but he’s another one that has been touched by the Cinema Gods, he can play ANYTHING!!!!
Scuttlebutt: I'm sorry for not commenting on the series here but – as I said before – Greece... a little behind things. Haven't seen most of these things. But I hope that someday I will.
Leave us a comment, tell us what you like, who you hate... We want to know your opinion on the Globes too.
